Rent Small Warehouse Space in Phoenix with ReadySpaces
Phoenix is the capital and largest city of Arizona and one of the largest economic and cultural centers of the American Southwest. This sprawling city sits in south-central Arizona in the Salt River Valley and is often referred to as the Valley of the Sun. It is surrounded by low mountain ranges on all sides, providing residents with easy access to hiking and other outdoor pursuits.
Phoenix grew rapidly in the mid-20th century, as it offered affordable housing on a large scale. It is now the fifth-largest city in the United States, anchoring a large metro area that also includes Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Glendale.
This area has become a popular tourist destination due to its year-round warm weather. There are many resorts, spas, and golf courses in the area. Sports are also an important part of Phoenix’s culture, with four major league teams in the area. Phoenix also frequently hosts championship sporting events and is the home of spring training for Major League Baseball.
Phoenix has a diversified economy with several Fortune 500 companies and regional offices. Real estate is one of the largest industries in Phoenix. The city’s sprawling nature makes it easy for developers to build large-scale projects. Other notable industries are finance and manufacturing. On top of that, Phoenix has a large government and military presence.
Additionally, Phoenix now ranks second among US cities for warehousing and distribution. It’s a strategic location for manufacturing and eCommerce operations—not only is it the anchor of a major metropolitan area, but there are also easy highway connections to other cities in the Southwest. Many new warehouse complexes have popped up in recent years to accommodate increasing demand. Some notable examples include CapRock West 202 and Park Algodon, both of which are located west of downtown Phoenix.
Phoenix offers extensive transportation and shipping options for local businesses. I-10 and I-17 intersect in downtown Phoenix, forming a loop around the downtown area. Much of Phoenix and the surrounding area is easily accessible via highway and has very minimal congestion.
Sky Harbor International Airport is located just outside of downtown Phoenix. In addition to offering both domestic and international passenger flights, it is a center for air shipping with two cargo complexes. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is located approximately 35 miles east of downtown Phoenix and is also a center for cargo transportation. This airport is unique in that it contains customs facilities for both the US and Mexico, providing services for organizations that want to ship to both countries.
For rail shipping, both BNSF and Union Pacific have cargo rail operations in Phoenix. In 2024, Union Pacific opened a large intermodal cargo terminal to expand its operations. Union Pacific’s rail yard is located in downtown Phoenix, while BNSF’s rail yard is located in nearby Glendale.
